What is ABA?

ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis, is a methodology that looks at how the environment can be changed to improve behavior. ABA has decades of research demonstrating its effectiveness with a variety of populations. In Behavioral Parent Training, we teach parents how to use behavioral strategies to address their children’s challenging behaviors.

How long is a typical session?

Sessions are 50-minutes in length. Longer sessions may be scheduled in advance with a pro-rated fee.

Will you work directly with my child?

As much as I love working directly with children, the goal of treatment is to give YOU the skills that you need to feel successful. At times, treatment will involve me showing you what a strategy looks like by demonstrating it with your child. After I show you, however, you’ll be asked to take the reigns and put what you’ve learned into action.

Do you do home visits?

Yes, it might be beneficial for me to work with you directly in the setting where the target behavior occurs. For example, if we’re working on bed time behavior, I might recommend going to your house and coaching you through the bed time routine. If your goal is to go to the grocery store, then let’s go to the grocery store!

Do you provide teletherapy?

I am happy to provide secure, HIPAA compliant video sessions for clients. Teletherapy is a great way to work with families when providing Behavioral Parent Training. Check out this video to learn more about what a teletherapy session might look like.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Sometimes canceling or rescheduling an appointment is necessary. If you can’t make your appointment, please notify me with as much advance notice as possible so that we can reschedule. As outlined in my consent forms and policies, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. No shows or sessions cancelled within the 24-hour window will be charged the full session fee.
